I've just read a story.

and this is my interpretation of the story.

Very often, we are unwilling to accept the truth, especially when it concerns ourselves.
The truth always hurt.
Not because of the cliche saying of "the truth always hurt".
But because it comes out from your close friend's mouth.
Yet, only your good close friend will say those things to you.
Not meant to hurt you indeed.
Still, there are times when they say it on the spur of anger or astonishment or impatience.
Most of the times, the brutal truth aims to motivate and improve us to be a better someone.
Despite being the 'helpful truth', it is still stinging to the ears.
Because no one likes to be criticised.
One detests being criticised for something, especially when one feels that the other party doesn't understand him or her well enough.
It may now appear that "silence is golden".
Keep your peace and offend no one.
But, is this really so?
